A. Most 486 computers are expensive to upgrade to a
486, simply because you must also upgrade the system/motherboard
plus the case, the memory and hard drive. The only components
that can be reused are the floppy drive and CD-Rom, and the
monitor. So, it amounts to the same as buying a new "box"
or system.

What's this Y2K Bug and how do I
protect against it?
A. The Year 2000 bug is that date 01/01/2000 that may
or may not rollover on your computer and in the software that
is in use. To protect against it, you may download the Y2K
program which will detect if your hardware is compliant; then,
you must contact each vendor of the software to ask this question
to them.

HELP! My computer just kicked me
out of a program, saying it has performed an illegal operation.
What does that mean, and what do I do now?
A. When this happens, it usually is a case of a memory
glitch caused by the program(s) in use at the time. Sometimes
it is a symptom of a corrupted file, in which case the program
should be uninstalled and re-installed. Best thing to do right
away is restart the computer.

of that?
A. "Safe Mode" is only a temporary operating condition
allowing you to troubleshoot or fix a problem in Windows 95.
If it was a lockup that caused this problem, you probably
want to simply: Start, Shut down the computer, which will
return it to normal mode.
